Library of the Lithuanian Sea Museum collects more than 6.000 physical units: books, leaflets, periodical editions. Collection of the library focuses on maritime and nautical topics, comprising the sea and its nature, aquaria, navigation, history, geography, naval history. Among the titles the visitors can find encyclopedia, dictionaries, editions presenting other museums, dolphinariums, and the zoos. The books are in Lithuanian, German, English, Swedish, French, and Russian languages. The oldest books „Neumann‘s Naturgeschichte der VögelDeutschlands“ date back to 1822. Other ….old books about nature “Meyers konversationslexicon”, “Brockhaus konversationslexicon” come from 1896, 1902, 1910.
In 1994 the Lithuanian Sea Museum was presented with 900 marinist books, calendars and other type of editions by a private collector Marina Kulchinskaja. Coming from Klaipeda and residing in Sweden, M. Kulchinskaja cherished an idea of the library named after the captain Liudvikas Stulpinas established in Klaipeda. Intentionally, she has marked each item of her collection with a stamp of Maritime Liudvikas Stulpinas Library.
The library of the Lithuanian Sea Museum is proud of its collection presented by the Lloyd‘s Register of Shipping from London providing ships’ data of 1969, 1998–2005, 2007, 2009, in Lithuania exclusively available from the Museum’s library.
